Whole Fish in Curry with Rice

According to The National Institutes of Health, fish are high in vitamin D, and are considered one of the best dietary sources of this essential nutrient. According to the NIH, vitamin D is beneficial for calcium absorption for bone health and growth.

Apart from this fish has many benefits such as it helps to improve vision, it lowers risk of heart disease, it lowers the symptoms of depression, it helps lean your body and strong your muscles and helps you sleep better. There are varieties of fishes available in the market, such as, Salmon Fish, Prawn, Shrimp, Tuna and Catfish etc., Fish can be eaten as a lunch or dinner. Fish can be cooked in a variety of ways, such as, Fish Biryani, Fish Curry, Baking, Fried Fish, Shallow Fried Fish, Steaming and Grilling. So today I'm going to show you how to cook healthy whole fish in curry with rice....

Ingredients:
For making curry:
3 tbsp tomato paste
2 small onions, finely chopped
2 tbsp ginger and garlic paste

Salt as per taste
1 tbsp turmeric powder
1 tbsp black pepper powder
1-2 tbsp red chili powder
1 tbsp Garam Masala
1 tbsp coriander powder
1 tbsp cumin powder
75-100 ml oil
2-3
Shan/National fish curry masala
75 ml coconut milk

For Rice:

1 kg brown rice (wash and soak for 2 hrs)

salt as per taste
water as required

For frying fish:
Oil for frying fish
1 kg whole fish (clean and wash)
salt as per taste


1 tbsp black pepper powder
1-2 tbsp red chili powder
1 tbsp Garam Masala
1 tbsp cumin powder
2-3 Shan/National fish masala 

Directions for cooking:
1. Take a big bowl, and add fish, salt, black pepper powder, red chili powder, garam masala, cumin powder and Shan/National fish masala mix them well and set aside.

2. Heat oil in a sauce pan, add onion and saute for 5 minutes or till golden brown and then add ginger and garlic paste, tomato paste, salt, turmeric powder, black pepper powder, red chili powder, garam masala powder, coconut milk, coriander powder, cumin powder and Shan/National fish curry masala and cook for another 15 minutes and set aside.

3. Take a big pot vessel, add salt, water and bring it to a boil. Add rice and cook for 10-15 minutes or until rice tendered, now drain the excess water and simmer the rice on low flame for about 5-10 minutes.

4. Take a deep non-stick pan, heat oil, oil should be enough hot while adding fishes. Add 2-3 fishes at a time (do not overcrowd) or depending on the capacity of the pan. Fry them till golden brown, then spread it on a paper to absorb excess oil.

5. Yours
Whole Fish in Curry with Rice is ready. Now served rice with fish curry as shown on the above picture.
