Ragi Dilgappa or Heart Puri

 Ragi or Finger Millet is indeed a superfood. Ragi or Finger Millet is a wonder grain for those people who want to weight loss. It is rich in calcium, protein and high in fiber. Ragi or Finger Millet helps in controlling Diabetes. Ragi or Finger Millet is gluten-free, cholesterol free and full of essential nutrients including iron, calcium, proteins, dietary fiber, potassium and vitamin B3, vitamin C and vitamin E. 

Ragi or Finger Millet is widely consumed in South India. Ragi or Finger Millet flour is very healthy and good for brain development and used to make various food recipes such as Idli, Dosa, Roti, Paratha, Puri and Halwa etc. Ragi or Finger Millet is one of my favourite cereals. In this recipe I'm going to show you how to cook Ragi Dilgappa or Ragi Heart Puri. The main ingredients are Ragi or Finger Millet flour, Whole wheat flour, salt and oil. You can eat this Ragi Dilgappa or Ragi Heart Puri as a Golgappa by stuffing onions, potatoes, chickpeas, tomatoes, mint chutney and tamarind chutney or you can eat this Ragi Dilgappa or Heart Puri with your evening tea as a snack. Do try this healthy and delicious recipe once you will surely love this.

Ingredients: 
1 cup Ragi flour
1 cup Whole wheat flour
1 tbsp oil for kneading
3/4 cup water
salt as per taste
oil for frying
Whole wheat flour for dusting


Steps for cooking:
1) Take a large bowl, add whole wheat flour, Ragi flour, oil and salt, crumble and mix well then add water slowly as required and knead into a stiff dough. Cover the dough and rest for at least 15 minutes. As shown in the picture.



2) Now, divide the dough into 3 equal size and sprinkle some flour on rolling pin and roll it with the help of rolling pin to make around 1 inch thick Chapati. With the help of your favourite cookie cutter, cut out into a desired shape. Set aside.



3) Repeat this process to the rest of the dough.

4) Now, take a non-stick pan and heat enough oil. Now place them one by one into the oil. And fry them on low flame for 5 minutes, then on medium flame for another 5 minutes, turning occasionally till they turn light golden brown. Remove them from the oil and drain in a kitchen paper.


5) Once it gets cool down. Store it in an airtight container. Yours Ragi Dilgappa or Heart Puri is ready to enjoy with a cup of tea. 

Note:

1) Oil should be enough hot while frying Ragi Dilgappa or Heart Puri, otherwise it will break. 

2) Only a small 
batch of Ragi Dilgappa or Heart Puri should be fried at a time.
